Solomon, one of the wisest and wealthiest men who lived on the face of the earth says, “The blessings of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow to it.” This is called the Good Success.
Man spends a great deal of his life in getting rich and famous. There is a wise saying – “Man spends his health to get wealth and later spends his wealth to get healthy.” It is a Zero sum game. The Bible says that it is the Lord who makes a person truly rich.
If one were to look at one’s successes, the motive has always been to get Happy. Happiness is the core reason for all our intentions and actions. We are programmed that way. The difference between one striving to get rich and God helping someone to get rich lies in the second half of the verse – “He adds no sorrow to it.”
Research says that people who have more wealth worry more. It is a natural feeling. The secret in today’s passage is that along with God’s blessing comes God’s insurance. When God blesses you, he wants you to enjoy those benefits and not to worry about them. He does not want you to have sleepless nights tossing in worries.
But How to get this blessing?
Deut 8:18 – Remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you’re the ability to produce wealth.
The first thing you have to do is to remember and acknowledge that it is God who can give you the riches. There is no other source other than Him. Any other source other than God will eventually lead you to sorrow.
Matt 6:33 – Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness and all things shall be given to you.
Secondly, learn to seek God. King David discovered this secret. He says, “Early in the morning I will seek thee for my soul thirstiest for thee” (Ps 63:1). He was one of the most successful Kings and also a man after God’s own heart.
Commit to God
Prov 16:3 – Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your paths
The Bible says that God’s thoughts and far higher than ours. It makes sense to let the better person do all the planning and strategy for your life. There is nothing better than committing your ways to the one who knows the end from the beginning.
Delight in God
Ps 37:4 – Delight in the Lord and He will give you the desire of your heart.
Finally, the ultimate secret weapon is to take delight in God – the source of all blessings. God does not give us his blessings because we deserve them. His blessings come to us from His Mercy seat through his Grace. We read in the Old Testament that no one was to approach God empty-handed (Duet 16:16). Learn to place your Praise and Thank offering as the sweet smelling aroma in God’s presence. Our God inhabits the praises of his people.
